Another component of the MTSS process is that the school will conduct benchmark screenings three times a year to all students to monitor progress. As a result of these screenings, students may be identified as needing supplemental instruction (a Tier II level of support) in addition to high quality instruction they are receiving Tier I. Research based interventions are used to support students in the area of need. Progress monitoring will play a key role in determining student progress through the MTSS process. When the child meets their goal, the intervention will no longer be needed.
All students at MLR will be a part of the Intervention time that we have set up for our school. This means that students will be grouped for a 30 minute time period, based on their instructional progress everyday. Some classes may focus on enrichment and higher level thinking where others may focus on fluency or phonics. MTSS is all about giving a student what they need.
If your student needs more support than the Tier II instruction, we will contact you. You play a key role in your student’s success.
