The Meadowlark Minute - PE Edition

The Meadowlark Minute - PE Edition

Did you know that nearly 80% of the information we take in is visual? This week, our Meadowlark 2nd–5th graders discovered just how important empathy and accessibility are during a very meaningful PE experience.

Our PE classes were excited to welcome special guests from the School for the Blind, who taught students about the unique strengths, skills, and experiences of individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Students listened, asked thoughtful questions, and learned how people navigate the world in different ways.

Through hands-on activities, students participated in simulations of visual impairment and practiced being caring, responsible guides for one another. These experiences helped them better understand what it’s like to rely on trust, communication, and teamwork.

It was a powerful day filled with learning, kindness, and respect—one that reminded us all that empathy helps us see the world more clearly.
